Why Should I Make Music (WSIMM) is a post-modern LGBTQ+ drama about the search for meaning in a satisfaction-driven world. Set around the year 2040, the plot follows Jonah as he experiences his imagination and wrestles with his new-found curiosity. How can sounds cause people to dream? Does anyone experience music the same way? Can art be honestly interpreted? Is AI art really art? And most importantly, why would anyone wish to make music?

relationships

A brief synopsis of prevalent character relationships in WSIMM:

- jonah & "the art" -

For lack of a better term, "The Art" is Jonah's "imaginary friend" -- Jonah is the only one who can see or experience her, yet she can see and experience everything in Jonah's inner and outer world. "The Art" is a complete enigma to Jonah, but they coexist because they have to. She just... showed up one day, and Jonah has to deal with all of the consequences of her existence. She is a handful, but her curious nature helps Jonah see the world in a new light.

- jonah & june -

Jonah can't figure out June no matter how hard he tries, and June's volatile nature doesn't help the matter. Their relationship constantly flip-flops between empathetic and antithetic, but despite their differences, they share a deeply personal bond through music.Unfortunately, they might be the only other person in the universe who could understand...

- charlie & bri -

Bri and Charlie met by chance several years ago, and after bonding over their shared interests, they have been best friends ever since! Bri's calm optimism helps to temper Charlie's erratic neuroticism, and Charlie's perseverance and confidence inspires Bri to see the best in herself.Although they seem like unlikely friends at first glance, a minute alone with the two of them will make it easy to understand their undying friendship!

- charlie & june -

Charlie and June used to be close friends and music partners -- until one fateful day when June decided to leave everything behind. Nobody but the two of them knows exactly what caused their schism, but they both insist they aren't the one at fault.

about the author

Hi! I'm cwispy -- a lesbian grown-up with ADHD and a 9-5 job who loves technology, art, and spending way too much time daydreaming on the internet. My goal is to make a 15-20 chapter webcomic about why we should all strive to create art despite it's inherent challenges. Drawing and writing have always been two of my favorite hobbies, but this is my first time attempting to create in webcomic format! To see more of my work, check out my socials below.
